First off, lets begin with how amazing the venue was!

Stone Tower Winery in Leesburg, Virginia was absolutely a stunner! Tucked in the hills of the Shenandoah Valley in Leesburg Virginia, this winery created a perfect backdrop for Jake and Elisabeth's live wedding painting.

They had a gorgeous white flower half circle display for their ceremony with the vineyard behind them. I set up my easel and began the painting when it started to rain! Luckily, the venue had a table and umbrella set up for me, so I didn't mind. I started painting with acrylic for their portrait in case it did get wet as oil paints don't like water. Literally 5 minutes before the ceremony, the rain stopped and the sky became bright and alive. It was a beautiful ceremony and the brides dress was amazing and a joy to paint.

I continued painting during cocktail hour and the reception and took the painting home to finish. As I was studying the painting, I realized I had no room in the way I positioned them on the canvas for her dress. So, I repainted the whole painting with a landscape orientaion instead of portrait to ensure I had room for the vineyard behind them, the white flowers, and her dress. I am so happy I did that as the painting turned out perfect. They both loved their painting as did I.
