Absolutely a favorite of mine!
Katie and Javii had their wedding at Springfield Manor in Thurmont MD. I loved that venue! It was so charming and the views were incredible.
When I first showed up, the weather did not look promising. Windy, a little rainy, and overcast. We were all a little worried. Right before the ceremony, the sky started to open up and it was perfect weather for the ceremony to be outside. Perfect timing!
I began painting the background of the piece outside a couple of hours before the ceremony. Right after the ceremony I photographed the couple at the Ceremony spot as that is what they wanted me to paint. I moved indoors and sketched out the couple and started working on them in the cocktail area. Guests were having a blast watching the progress of the painting evolve throughout the evening.
I painted as much detail as I could until the end of the reception then packed up and headed home. I finished the piece in my studio with much more detail and smoothing out the painting to give it a completed and classic oil painting look. The couple loved their painting and I loved how the piece turned out on my end. I cannot wait to paint more pieces live at weddings and events.
