Live Wedding Guest Portraits at Rixey Manor in Rixeyville, Virginia by Live Wedding Painter Emily Farewell.

I love this venue so much! This was my second time this year working at Rixey Manor in Rixeyville Virginia. The first time was photographing a wedding, the second time was doing guest portraits live!

Shelby and Jeremy contacted me wanting me to do live guest portraits for their wedding day on September 6th, 2025. I was absolutely honored to be a part of their wedding day and to create custom gifts for their friends and family. The guest portraits were done on 5x7 watercolor paper with handmade watercolor paints by Artistics Isle and outlined with pen. I didn't paint faces for this wedding which I enjoy as I get to focus on the essence of each person through movement and details of clothing and hair. I finished what I could at the wedding and took home the rest of the portraits to finish in my studio.

Shelby and Jeremy also hired another live wedding painter to paint their Oil Portrait during the ceremony. Once in my studio, I finished the rest of the portraits and mailed them out to each guest with a thank you card. I package each drawing with care with a plastic sleeve for protection and a back board to keep it from getting damaged in shipping.

For Jeremy and Shelby, I did a portrait of each of them with their son as well as a detailed portrait of the two of them during their first dance. Included in my guest portrait packaging is a detailed 11x14 Watercolor Painting of the bride and groom with a deckled edge. A deckled edge means the edges are torn giving it an elegant and artistics feel. I tear the paper myself maintaining as much handmade feel as possible.

This year has been wild and so much fun full of weddings,camera's, and paint! I can't wait to book more live wedding paintings! Interested in me painting on your wedding day? My watercolor portraits are done the day of the wedding and framed while the oil paintings I start at your wedding and finish my studio.
